Neon lights are just as safe as ordinary
light bulbs. If a tube should break, the gases escape
harmlessly. Breakage can be easily and inexpensively
repaired.
You can leave a neon light burning day and night with
little wear on the components. The cost of operation is
less than a standard 60 watt light bulb. A
transformer can run continuously for 15 years without
problem and a neon tube lasts more than 30 years before a
gas recharge is needed. A very slight buzzing sound
is normal, as is occasional "oscillation" of the
light within the tube.
